Let’s talk about being a Servant of God. To serve or be a servant of God is not just something you do casually. As a Christian, it is a requirement, your duty and a part of your calling. Being a servant is not an unachievable goal. God has made it easy for us to serve Him and to serve others. Here are a few ways.

First, you have to develop a relationship with God. Get to know Him and His Word. If you don’t know Him, you can’t know what He needs and requires of us to become a servant for Him and his people.

You can serve God by being a servant in your community, through your church and other non-profit organizations or serving one individual at a time. That service can come in the form of prayer, praying with and for the people in your community or being a mentor for youth and adults.

Volunteering is a form of serving. Time is money and if you are donating your time to help others, that’s being a servant.  Paying it forward is a form of serving. Let’s say you bought a new car and you donated your old car to an organization. That’s paying it forward. God blessed you with a new car, now you are paying it forward by blessing someone else.

You can serve God by setting an example, like going to church. You never know who might just start going to church because they see you going. Plus, going to church is another way for you to serve God. Missionary work is a form of serving, locally, nationally and internationally and this simply means just spreading the Word of God wherever you go, every opportunity you get.

Now, serving God and His people does not mean going around tooting your own horn and accomplishments. That is not being a servant. That’s about making what you have done all about you. Good servants are quiet and humble about their good deeds and services. Good servants thank God for blessing them to be of service to Him and to others.

So up your servant game this week. Make this week not about you, but about being of service to God, family, friends AND strangers because you never know who God may use to test you!
