Let’s talk about JOY from a biblical perspective, the JOY of the LORD. What is THE JOY OF THE LORD? Let’s start with MAN’S meaning of JOY. The definition of JOY is the emotion of great delight or happiness caused by something exceptionally good or satisfying that gives us inner peace and contentment. However, THE JOY OF THE LORD is so much deeper than that. The Joy Of The Lord is your strength! (Nehemiah 8:10). That kind of joy comes from you getting to know the Lord and His Word, living in Him and letting Him live in you! It’s knowing that He is in control at all times, through every situation in you life, good or bad, and knowing that because of this joy, everything will be alright.
Now, “alright” may not turn out the way you want it to, but however that season of your life ends for you, God will give you the joy and peace you need to handle the end result. Romans 8:13 reads, “Count it ALL joy my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for we know that the test of your faith produces steadfastness…and let steadfastness have its full effect that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.”
The Joy Of The Lord is literally out of this world! That kind of joy is a supernatural thing. The Lord is the epitome of the supernatural. The Joy Of The Lord is a lasting emotion that comes from trusting the Lord and knowing that He will fulfill all of HIS promises.
So how do you get that feeling, THE JOY OF THE LORD? Discover the Lord’s purpose for you. Find the Lord in your circumstances, good or bad. Remember that joy multiplies! Look for God in the ordinary and simple things in life. It is not rocket science to have The Joy Of The Lord. All you have to do is get into His presence. Psalm 16:11 reads, “…in your presence there is fullness of Joy…” SO DO SOMETHING! Get with Him and get your joy! THE JOY OF THE LORD!
