According to the dictionary, THE SOUL is the immaterial essence or actual cause of a person being in existence. The body is the covering…the shell for THE SOUL. Some people say the soul and the body are one in the same because one cannot exist without the other. Here’s the cool part…God made them both…the body and the soul and it all started with Adam. Genesis 2:7 reads, “The Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.” Christians believe the soul never dies and when you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, it is the soul that receives eternal salvation and not the earthly body. Now some people thing your spirit and your soul are synonymous. They are not. In terms of your spirit…once you give your life to Christ, your spirit is instantly connected to HIM. According to 2 Corinthians 5:17, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things have become new.” With your soul…your mind, identity, conscious, memories, emotions, personalities and free-will that God gives us, are slowing being confirmed to the image of Christ. In other words, with our souls…we are all work in progress but with our spirit…once we are saved, it’s an instant connect to God. So, how do we connect with our soul? Through prayer and growing your spiritual relationship with God, by taking advantage of quiet time and spaces, working towards a better you, investing in other people and following your intuition and your gut. That small feeling and voice inside of you speaks volumes to your soul. Be still, listen…and grow your soul to the place God needs it to be…for it’s your soul that will determine where you will spend
