What does the ARMOR OF GOD mean? It represents the defense we must take in our spiritual lives to ward off the attacks of Satan, the Devil, the Enemy, whatever you want to call him. Now, since he is not of flesh and blood (even though he may use people to do his dirty work), we have to use non-tangible items to do battle with him.
Ephesians 6:12 reads, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” There are seven parts to the non-tangible Armor of God.
1. The Breastplate of Righteousness
2. The Gospel of Peace.
3. The Shield of Faith.
4. The Helmet of Salvation.
5. The Sword of The Spirit.
6. Prayer.
7. The Belt of Truth.
Some think number 7 is the most important one. This piece of armor is the foundation for all the other pieces because truth and trustworthiness are essential to the qualities that we need to withstand the attacks. Now, should we wear all of the pieces of God’s Armor everyday? Absolutely! Because we don’t know which way or angle we are going to be attacked.
Ephesians 6:13 says, “Wherefore take unto you the WHOLE Armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done ALL, to stand.”
We can put on the Armor of God by doing the following: Praying daily, studying God’s Word…not just reading the Bible but studying it, like you would for a class, daily acts of service and kindness towards others, physical exercising (got to take care of God’s temple) and associating with people of faith on a regularly basis.
The Bible tells us that we are fighting a war against Satan, who seeks to destroy us. Therefore, we must ALWAYS be prepared for the attacks and ALWAYS keep on the FULL Armor Of God!
