So what is GOD’S GRACE & MERCY? Simply put, GRACE is receiving something you don’t deserve, while MERCY is NOT receiving something you deserve. No matter what you’ve done, good or bad, you can obtain God’s grace and mercy. Jesus said in Hebrews 4:16, “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.” We can find mercy in Jesus through repentance, confession, faith, action, and prayer. Matthew 5:7…”Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.” Matthew 9:13 says, “Go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, and not sacrifice.”

Now, what Jesus said in these verses are not your “get out of jail card.” This does not mean you can do whatever you want and God is going to let you get away with it. You will STILL reap what you sow. God’s grace and mercy will just prevent things from being as harsh as they could be. God’s grace and mercy are just the start of what’s to come. “Grace” will eventually be complete when you are in Heaven, whereas “mercy” is complete once you die and you face God on Judgement Day.

God’s grace is salvation, forgiveness, and spiritual gifts. God’s mercy is seen in His patience with humanity, and His willingness to offer second chances and THANK GOD for second chances, which we get everyday!

An understanding of God’s grace and mercy toward us is an example of just how much He loves us unconditionally. His grace and mercy is proof that nothing can separate us from that love.
