The Bible is clear that God created ALL things and ALL people, that He IS love and has AGAPE LOVE for all of us. But only those who are born again are Children Of God. John 1:12 reads, “Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.” In other words, you have to be saved – have salvation – to be a Child Of God. Another example of those who are not saved, who are not Children of God, can be found in 1 John 3:10, “This is how we know who the Children Of God are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not a Child Of God: nor is anyone who does not love his brother.” Yes, the Children of God are special to Him because they show Him and His children Agape Love, they believe in Him and His word, and they follow His ways and commandments, etc., but that doesn’t mean He loves His other children any less. For the individuals that are just God’s Children, He shows them an abundance of love as well, through His Grace and Mercy, giving them opportunity after opportunity to follow Him, to join His team., the winning team. He loves the individuals that are just “God’s Children” so much that He slows down the process of punishing them so that they can have time to make things right with Him.
According to 2 Peter 3:9, “The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” He really doesn’t want any of His children to be left behind.
In summary, everyone physically belongs to God because He created all of us. We are all God’s Children, but to become a “Child of God” requires a spiritual rebirth. The choice is up to you. Are you just one of God’s Children or are you a Child Of God?
