WISDOM is the ability to make good judgments based on what you have learned from your experiences, or the knowledge and understanding that gives you this ability. For Christians, we choose to NOT operate through our own understanding because Proverbs 3:5 reads, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.” So we prefer to operate through GOD’S WISDOM, which is a capacity of the mind that allows us to understand life from God’s perspective, the understanding and knowledge that only come from a deep connection between one’s inner self and God.
We all need God’s wisdom, not just for ourselves but to help others. It’s not just about you, boo. We are our brothers’ and sisters’ keepers as well, and we need to be able to share God’s wisdom to help ourselves as well as others.
So how do we get God’s wisdom?
1. FEAR GOD. The Bible character, King Solomon said the fear of the Lord is the beginning of Wisdom (Proverbs 9:10). In this context, “fear” means to respect and revere God.
2. DESIRE WISDOM. Solomon says in Proverbs 2:4, we must look for it like silver and search for it like it’s a hidden treasure.
3. PRAY FOR WISDOM. James 1:5 reads, “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.”
4. STUDY GOD’S WORD. God’s wisdom is a gift, full of revelation and understanding, accessible to all of those who chose to seek it and believe it.
